ASAN Membership Categories

The Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN) welcomes qualified individuals and organizations committed to the advancement of animal science, livestock development, research, teaching, extension services, and related professions. Membership Categories

Student Member (SM)

Student Membership is designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students studying Animal Science or related disciplines in recognized institutions.

Eligibility:
  • Current student of a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Evidence of studentship may be required.

Associate Member (AM)

Associate Membership is available to individuals with interest in animal science and livestock development who may not yet qualify for Full Membership.

Full Member (FM)

Full Membership is the standard professional membership category for qualified Animal Scientists and professionals in related disciplines.

Eligibility:
  • Recognized degree or qualification in Animal Science or related discipline.
  • Professional involvement in teaching, research, extension, industry, or related practice.

  • Voting rights in Association matters.
  • Eligibility to hold office.
  • Professional recognition and certification.
  • Access to all ASAN programmes and activities.

Fellow (FL)

Fellowship is the highest grade of membership and is reserved for distinguished professionals who have made significant contributions to Animal Science and the Association.

Eligibility:
  • Outstanding professional achievements.
  • Substantial contribution to Animal Science, research, education, industry, or ASAN.
  • Must satisfy criteria established by the Association.

  • Eligibility for senior advisory and leadership roles.
  • Prestige and professional distinction.

Corporate Member (CM)

Corporate Membership is designed for organizations, institutions, companies, and agencies involved in animal production, research, education, agribusiness, veterinary services, feed manufacturing, livestock development, and related sectors.

Eligibility:
  • Legally registered organization or institution.
  • Interest in supporting the objectives of ASAN.

Membership Application Process

  1. Select the membership category that best matches your qualifications.
  2. Complete the online membership application form.
  3. Upload the required supporting documents.
  4. Pay the applicable membership fees.
  5. Submit your application for review.
  6. Track your application using the Application Tracking Portal.
  7. Upon approval, receive your Membership Number, Digital Membership Certificate, and Membership Card.

  • Professional Credentials (where applicable).
  • Evidence of Payment.
  • Other supporting documents as required.
